Bleomycin Toxicity is a serious condition that can go undiagnosed leading to severe consequences for cancer patients. A PET Scan is needed to show bleomycin-induced lung damage. Ten years after my mom, in effect, saved my life by insisting that my oncologist order a PET scan, I'm putting my story out there in hopes that it will help patients who are currently being treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In my case, the Bleomycin Toxicity was reversed with a course of high-dose Prednisone which I continued to take for several months. Left untreated, Bleomycin Toxicity can lead to Pulmonary Fibrosis and death. Please be aware of the symptoms of this life-threatening condition which can be a side effect of the chemotherapy drug Bleomycin.
