This video features the descriptions of earthquake hazards in Descriptions of Earthquake Hazards in Ilokano (Northern Luzon) language. Both videos, online and printed sourcebooks are compiled descriptions of earthquake events of eyewitnesses in local languages alongside scientific terminologies into a communication tool kit, facilitating science communication and aiding DRRM practitioners in educating the public about geological processes. The Earthquake, Tsunami, and Volcano Disaster Narratives for Experiential Knowledge-based Science Communication Project or DANAS Project or DANAS Project is a 2-year (2023-2025) DOST-GIA project that aims to harness the laypeople’s experiential knowledge of past disaster events using in-depth interviews conducted in their local languages. This project intends to gather and study the relationships of lived experiences of disaster as motivating factors for people to take pre-event preparedness measures and syn-event decision-making. The goal of the project is to raise public awareness, develop social preparedness and manage risk communication during actual crisis.
