Tweed overcoat DIY tailoring: sleeves, belts, and dubious improvisations

When you've got a few DIY tailoring projects under your belt, it's easy to imagine you're ready to start improvising. From constructing said belt to putting together one of the sleeves for my overcoat, it was this spirit of improvisation which I let guide me... With dubious results. Do I know how to match seam allowances? Am I capable of correctly cutting out my fabric pieces? Is it remotely possible for me to sew in a straight line? Will I ever, ever sew by hand two stitches of the same length? And can not a mind as limited as mine never fail in not comprehending a sentence with no fewer or more than four double negatives??? I guess it's too soon to say...
