While experimenting with shutter speeds while digitizing Super 8 film footage using a Sankyo P-1500 projector and a Panasonic HC-X1000 camcorder, a feeding problem with the projector caused the film to jam up, breaking it in two spots, damaging sprockets and folded and twisted some of the film. Normally when something like this occurs, the damaged part of the reel is completely edited out with a splice; however I opted to try a different approach in order to preserve the footage on the damaged film.
