2021 Amtrak Coast Starlight Compilation

Compilation featuring all 23 runbys of the Coast Starlight we captured in 2021 in chronological order. 2021 was a big year for Amtrak as well as the Coast Starlight. Amtrak hit its 50th anniversary and released new specially painted anniversary locomotives. Daily service was returned to the long distance trains that were cut to tri-weekly in 2020, which included the Coast Starlight. A fire on the Shasta line either suspended service or caused the Coast Starlight to be cut in two, with a bus bridge between Klamath Falls and Sacramento, for most of the Summer. Newly painted 50th anniversary unit AMTK 161 rolled in on the last northbound 14 to make the whole trip, and it spent roughly the entire time of the Shasta line's reconstruction assigned to the northern section of the Coast Starlight. Many runbys are featured of the Phase I painted locomotive during this time in this compilation. It was also the year Amtrak switched over to the Point Defiance Bypass in Washington, and two runbys are featured of the Coast Starlight on the old water-level route along Puget Sound shortly before switching. Locations featured are as far North as Steilacoom, WA. and as far south as Cascade Summit, OR.
