In this video, Mike Kruger and Josh Chatraw explore two perspectives Christians often take towards doubt—shaming or celebrating it—and how dynamics in our secular age have led to an overall increase in doubt. Kruger says struggling with doubt does not make a person a bad Christian, and notes that Jesus is compassionate and patient with doubters in Scripture. They discuss the need to have realistic expectations for certainty, understanding that confidence is not the same thing as total certainty. Doubt can be more complex than simply lacking information, Kruger notes, and can often stem from personal pain or suffering. Seeing the Christian life as a pilgrimage, where doubts are often part of the journey and are experienced in community, is one way we can approach doubt in a nonanxious way that doesn’t derail our faith. Mike Kruger and Josh Chatraw are micro-event speakers at TGC23, Sept. 25-27, 2023, in Indianapolis. Learn more and register for the conference at https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/tg...
