Every day Polish Air Navigation Services Agency ensures safety of passengers in more than 2,500 flights over Poland. Almost 750,000 overflights, approaches, take-offs and landings, supervised by more than 500 the air traffic controllers employed in Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, as well as 200,000 General Aviation flights, under watch of the Flight Information Service (FIS). In 2015 number of flights reached almost one million. Air traffic controllers are supported by advanced technology. Over 200 devices located throughout Poland, which guarantee safety of air traffic within the Polish airspace, consist of: Air – ground communication systems, systems of area navigation, ILS – DME systems which support smooth and precise landing in low visibility, radars. We are responsible for advanced aviation infrastructure – we build it and develop it. In the following years we will spend almost 1 billion PLN for its modernization. All safety critical systems are continuously maintained by our technical experts and checked by the flight inspection of Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, equipped with modern aircrafts. The air traffic controller is an unique job, but most of all, it is the great responsibility for passengers’ safety. It is an exceptional job which gives a lot of satisfaction, but also requires unique skills, as well as thorough training, perfect concentration and precision. Polish Air Navigation Services Agency is the only organization in Poland training and employing civil air traffic controllers. Every day there are almost half a million passengers on board all planes flying over Poland. In the Air Traffic Management Centre of Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, as well as in all airports throughout Poland the air traffic controllers take care of their safe journey.
