Come join us for an Argentinian food tour as we head all over Esquel, Chubut to eat at different restaurants specializing in Argentine parrilla, pasta and pizza in Argentina. Even though Esquel is known more for hiking and day-trips to National Parks you can find some fantastic Argentine food at various restaurants in town. Our first stop in town was at De Maria, a local parrilla, where we tried eating bife de chorizo, vacio along with beetroot salad and red wine. Our next stop on our Argentine food tour was at a restaurant called Don Chiquino that specializes in Patagonian pastas. We ended up having Sorrentinos with walnuts, ricotta and mushrooms along with lasagna including Patagonian lamb. Our favorite part about this restaurant was the amazing collection of items and trinkets giving it a bodegon feel. Our final restaurant in Esquel, a pizzeria called Fitzroya where we drank old fashioned style coke along with a Napolitana pizza. If we do another Argentina food tour what would you like us to show you next time? 🍕🍝🥩 Best Restaurants in Esquel, Patagonia | Pizza, Pasta & Parrilla Food Tour 🇦🇷 🗺️ Introduction: Esquel for Food Lovers Welcome to Esquel, a Patagonian town known for its incredible hiking trails and day trip opportunities. After a day of exploring the great outdoors, you’ll be craving something hearty and delicious—so in this video, we take you to our three favorite restaurants in town, each one specializing in a classic Argentine staple: pizza, pasta, and parrilla (barbecue). 🥩 De Maria Parrilla – Classic Argentine Grill Experience Our first stop is De Maria, a cozy parrilla highly recommended by our local host. What We Ordered: Bife de Chorizo (sirloin steak) – cooked juicy and flavorful, just the way it should be in Argentina Vacio (flank steak) – two generous cuts, perfectly pink in the middle A colorful salad (beetroot, carrots, egg) and a bread basket with lentil spread and mayo House red wine (Carcassonne)—affordable, potent, and the perfect match for grilled meats Highlights: The grill is brought to the table, so you can keep your meat hot or let it cook a bit more if desired Portions are large and perfect for sharing Outstanding value: under $30 USD for two, including a bottle of wine Highly recommended for authentic Argentine BBQ in a friendly, relaxed setting 🍝 Don Chiquino – The Pasta Museum Next, we head to Don Chiquino, a pasta restaurant as famous for its quirky, museum-like decor as its handmade noodles. Why Visit: The entire restaurant is filled with antiques: license plates, football gear, farm tools, old beer bottles, and vintage photos. Wandering around the dining room is an experience in itself. What We Ordered: Sorrentinos stuffed with ricotta, walnuts, and mushrooms, served with the house Don Chiquino sauce (tomato, chicken, pancetta, mushrooms). Lasagna made with Patagonian lamb, topped with a rich Napolitana sauce and cheese. Dessert: Andean mousse with whipped cream, chocolate, walnuts, and a touch of dulce de leche—super decadent! Highlights: Creative pasta options and sauces Generous, filling portions—perfect after a day of hiking The lasagna was especially soft and the lamb incredibly tender Total meal: $27 USD for two, including wine, soda water, dessert, and bread basket Unique, memorable atmosphere—like eating in a quirky local museum 🍕 Pizza Napoletana – The Cheesy Classic Our third stop is for pizza, Argentine style! The Experience: Special promo: Pizza Napoletana (large portion) with garlicky bread bites and a classic glass bottle of Coke Heavy on the cheese—Argentine pizza never skimps on the mozzarella! Buttery crust, juicy tomato sauce, and a mountain of cheese—just what you need after a day outdoors Liberal use of garlic, which is typical in Argentina—great flavor, even if not so great for date night Atmosphere: Laid-back, family-friendly, and perfect for a casual meal Gaucho hats were a hit—when in Patagonia! Highlights: Massive pizza, enough for leftovers One of the cheapest meals in town—just $10 USD for the pizza and Coke combo Satisfying, fun, and perfect for sharing 💡 Tips & Takeaways Esquel offers a great mix of local restaurants with big portions and good value Whether you’re craving grilled meats, pasta, or pizza, you’ll find quality and variety Be sure to try the house wine, explore the quirky decor, and take home leftovers—the portions are huge!
