Goa Congress Vice President Tulio De Souza highlighted the issue of smart meters and questioned who is actually benefiting from them. He strongly condemned the statement made by Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, in which the minister said that electricity connections of common people would be disconnected within seven days if bills were not paid. Tulio termed this a “dhamki” to the people of Goa and questioned why the same strict action is not taken against businessmen who have pending electricity bills amounting to crores of rupees. He demanded accountability and equal treatment for all consumers and condemned the power minister’s remarks.
