I am a Christian. I try to live like Jesus. -( try being the operative word, because I am very human) And that’s why I’m uncomfortable when government uses Jesus or Christian language in official public communications—especially in public education, which serves families of all faiths and none. This video is not about cancelling Christmas or attacking Christianity. It is about state religious neutrality and whether political leaders are living the values they reference. In December, Alberta’s Minister of Education and Childcare issued a holiday message to families through public school systems that explicitly referenced Jesus Christ and the nativity. When a government invokes religious language in official messaging, it raises an important question: Are the policies and decisions that follow aligned with the teachings being invoked? Using the Nine Key Teachings of Jesus—including radical love, hospitality, service, justice, nonviolence, generosity, and humility—this video compares recent Alberta government decisions with those values and asks whether faith is being lived, or leveraged. This is not about judging anyone’s faith. It is about integrity, accountability, and honesty—especially from those in power. If Jesus is going to be referenced by the state, then it is fair—especially for Christians—to ask whether that use reflects His teachings, or contradicts them.
