Some of you guys panicked when I lit a fire in the shop in the last video. I did mention I needed to insulate around the woodstove but just wanted to make sure it was drawing correctly and warm my hands up. A few people recommended cement board to put behind the stove and I picked up a few pieces. I first put a sheet of osb then I put the cement board and then some old tin that I have been saving for the right project. I ended up putting the short piece behind the stove and now I dont like it. I would hate for an ember to get back behind it and then I could have an issue. So I will be looking for another piece to put back there but for now I think we can call it good. The stove got very hot and the pipe did too. The tin was also getting very hot but the heat wasnt transferring through the wall to the cavity behind it. I also checked all of the flashing around the pipe and it was 111 - 120 degrees. I still have the ember issue going down onto the ground so I will need to address that but I think as far as the stove its good. What do you guys think? Will this be adequate to keep my shop from burning down? Thank you guys for watching! Love you guys!
