President Yoweri Museveni has urged the newly commissioned officer cadets to uphold the highest standards of integrity and resist the temptation of corruption. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Museveni emphasized that the cadet training course is designed to equip soldiers with advanced combat skills, enabling them to operate effectively in diverse and complex situations. The President encouraged the new officers to embrace the values of patriotism, discipline, and selflessness, which are essential for building a professional and formidable military. He also reminded them that their role goes beyond combat, as they are also expected to contribute to nation-building and community development. President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned 774 officer cadets of the ranks of Lieutenant and 2nd Lieutenant upon their completion of the military course at the Kaweweta Recruitment Training School. The officers underwent training in both military and ideological concepts, preparing them to work in complex and changing environments, and to serve as future military leaders. The group included UPDF in-service cadets, members from ISO, ESO, the Republic of Mali, and fraternal cadets from Tanzania, with a total of 101 female officers. The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, urged the officers to be responsible, as they are entrusted with the lives of those under their command and the security of the nation. He further stated that their actions will shape the future of the defense forces while countering challenges with courage and resilience. Muhoozi reiterated the need for officers to avoid corruption, cowardice, and treachery, and to serve as shields for the people with integrity and honor President Museveni tasked the CDF with continuing to improve the welfare of soldiers by building houses, school infrastructure, and health facilities, as well as assisting soldiers' wives in economic enterprises. While he was confident that external threats are no longer a problem for Uganda, he remains concerned about corruption and the slow progress towards African unity.
