BYE VISTARA! | the NEW Air India B787-9! | Air India Business Class | Trip Report

Today it’s an emotional video, as we’ll fly Vistara for the very last time on their B787-9 in Business Class. While it’s already branded as Air India, most of the interior touches and cabin continue to be from Vistara. Vistara and Air India have recently merged in November 2024, ending 9 years of successful Vistara operations. Vistara was a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, a full-service premium carrier to cater to the demands of high-end business travelers in India, which was dominated by low cost carriers and the (by then) mediocre Air India. Their business model was successful and they quickly expanded to a fleet of 70 aircraft, including 7 B787-9 to cover international routes to the UK, Germany, France and Indonesia. After the TATA purchase of Air India it was very clear that both airlines would end up merging, which is a win for Air India, as they’re regaining the would-famous TATA hospitality background, but I fear is a loss for the consumer as now there won’t be any full-service carriers left in India except for Air India. But hey, let’s try it before we give any conclusions. Enjoy this last flight on the Vistara B787-9, or the first flight on the Air India B787-9, see it as you like it.
