Jeffrey Kahn, Ethics at the Horizon: A Proposal for a Future-Facing Global Bioethics

Prof. Jeffrey Kahn, Andreas C Dracopoulos Director, Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, Maryland United States What do we mean by “global bioethics” and how should we be thinking about issues, research, and scholarship in this territory? In this presentation, I will examine the various understandings of the term and the territory it is intended to cover, and then propose a topography and framework for how to describe and categorize the territory of global bioethics with some examples for future attention. Through this discussion, I hope to sharpen the focus of our discussions of global bioethics, with implications for scholars, research groups, and funders.
