Today we are going to be talking about a important and easy to grow medicinal herb called Toothache Plant aka Spilanthes acmella. This is one important and potent little plant. It has many medicinal uses and today we will be making a tincture with it. Later on towards the end of my growing season for this plant will teach you another usage for it. Let's delve in to it's amazing medicinal usages. This little plant goes by many names as: jambu, toothache plant, Electric daisy, Para cress, buzz buttons schezuan buttons to list a few names. Toothache plant is native to South America and believed to be of ancient Peruvian origin, and is part of the Asteraceae family commonly referred to as the aster family. It can grow up to 1-2 feet tall as well as wide, needs well-drained soil and full sun. It has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties making it a herb to use for disinfecting wounds, treating painful canker sores and treating ringworm infections. It's other healing benefits are for gum infections, inflammation in the mouth, sore throat, stomatitis, toothache and wound healing to list a few other ailments.
