'Jaribu' means 'to try' in Swahili, Kenya's official language. I have always been interested in understanding the lives of ordinary Kenyans, with whom I don't interact very often as a foreigner. So I came up with the idea to try their job for a day and learn about their life. Kenyans are one of the most hardworking people I have ever met. 'Shin Jaribu' is a story of everyday Kenyans who work hard for their dreams and loved ones. In this episode, I joined my friend Issac, who sells Mahindi Choma (Roasted Maize) in the street of Nairobi. I followed him all day from buying fresh maize at a market in #Kangemi to roasting and selling it at his street stall. He taught me a lot about maize and his business. Issac's Mahindi Choma stall is on Kyuna Road between Spring Valley and Loresho. Make sure to stop by and try his Mahindi when you are in the area! 00:00 Intro 02:07 Maize market 04:33 Heading to the selling location 08:11 Selling begins 11:41 Issac's family 13:33 Lunch break 14:24 Selling continues 15:59 Arrested by police #MahindiChoma #Mahindi #Kenya #Maize #KenyaStreetFood #StreetFood
