Start on link below! / @nbahistoryclns -~- One night during the 1983 NBA season, the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks were set to clash in a heated rivalry at the Boston Garden. However, what was supposed to be a normal basketball game, turned out to be one of the most memorable physical altercations in NBA history. It all started when Danny Ainge, then a member of the Celtics, took a hard foul on Tree Rollins, a member of the Hawks. This resulted in the two players exchanging a couple of words, before it all escalated into a full out physical fight. The fight began with Ainge charging Rollins, body slamming him from behind into the scorers table. Players from both teams rushed the court, attempting to break up the fight but it only intensified afterwards. Rollins punched Ainge, who responded by putting Rollins into an impressive headlock. As Ainge still had Rollins in headlock, Rollins began viciously biting Ainge’s arm. As the fight reached its climax, numerous security personnel for the stadium, as well as both teams’ coaches, finally broke it up and separated the two players. Ultimately, both Ainge and Rollins were dismissed from the game and were fined and suspended by the NBA for their respective roles in the brawl. Since that fateful day in the Boston Garden, many NBA fans have come to call the fight “The Tree Rollins and Danny Ainge Fight.” It has gone down as one of the wildest and most entertaining physical altercations in the history of the NBA, symbolizing the deeply rooted rivalry between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks.
