"Control in California: Keeping a Weed Free Garden" Lecture by Dr. Jeffrey Raber on 11/19/2013. Raber's presentation will provide an overview of cannabis chemical constituents, the testing methodologies available for detecting contamination, and provide insight into pesticide inhalation potential. This presentation will also describe current efforts to profile cannabis cultivars best suited for different ailments. In 2010, Raber founded The Werc Shop, an independent laboratory focused on botanical analysis, product development and sustainability with an initial emphasis on serving the unmet public health and safety needs within the medical cannabis community. Raber's background as a scientist, patented inventor and executive provide him with a unique perspective and skill set useful in assisting state and local regulators in the construction and implementation of effective solutions for the sustainable introduction of medical cannabis products to qualified patients. Prior to founding The Werc Shop, Raber earned his doctorate in chemistry from University of Southern California, where he studied plant phylogenetic of the RuBisCo enzyme and was named to the USA Today 1997 All-USA College Academic Team for his research accomplishments. Raber has also been involved in a number of entrepreneurial endeavors, highlighted by KinetiChem where he leads the development and commercialization of a novel continuous flow chemical reactor technology.
