The historical centre of the town of Šternberk is a conservation area. The prominent feature of the town is the late Baroque Church of Annunciation with the adjacent monastery. One of the steeples which was in a state of serious disrepair, was reconstructed with the help of SEMA software. This unique solution helps both the client and the supplier to save time and money. SEMA is the world leading supplier of software for timber constructions, staircases, metal cladding systems and facades. The SEMACZ company was founded in 2006 as the exclusive partner of SEMA software for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. SEMACZ is fully dedicated to its customers not only in sales and software support in the form of training or expert hotline, but it also supports its customers during the processing of their more complex projects and the introduction of new technologies. SEMACZ actively uses this software when processing its own orders, including the project to reconstruct the church steeple frame in Šternberk. Interview: Jiří Bartoš - SEMACZ s.r.o. The construction is interesting mainly because we used combination of several modern technologies when processing the order. Therefore the construction is unique in the Czech Republic and possibly even worldwide. First we used the so-called photogrammetry technology with the help of a drone, where photos of the exterior of the building are taken and a 3D model is created which is then used in software. The second part was the 3D scanning which we did using the S70 scanner from the company Faro. We made about 80 inside scans which we then combined to create a so-called point cloud using specialized software. The third technology was construction processing in our SEMA software. We imported these point clouds from both measurements and placed them in the correct position to each other. Then we drew the whole structure accordingly. In the course of the work, a small change occurred when for time reasons the constructer decided to abandon the manual production of the construction and used a CNC machining instead. This was not a problem with SEMA software. We exported data for the specific CNC machine and passed the data to our customer, who completed the entire production. He delivered the construction to the construction site and then it was a task for “skilled Czech hands”. Arch elements which could not be produced by the CNC machine, were completed. The whole structure was transported up (to the tower) and assembled. Now we can see what it looks like at the moment. Thank you for your attention and I hope it was interesting for you to take a look under the shell of the church steeple, since it is not always possible to see what the construction really looks like. I look forward to meeting you at another interesting project implemented by SEMA software.
