It Had To Come Down // Cutting Down A Big Tree // Ponderosa Pine // Land Cleanup After Logging In this video, our friend, Brian, comes over to cut down a ponderosa pine that has its top out and is standing very close to the property line. Brian has experience climbing trees and cutting them down, but thankfully, he was able to cut this ponderosa pine down from the ground. It is a big tree and would have been a real beauty if it hadn't lost its top in a storm. But, like most of the trees we cut down, we will put it on the sawmill and turn it into something great! We don't have very many ponderosas on our property, so it will be a memorable one for sure! After a little clean up, Greg shares where the barn will go and a new access road that our brother-in-law, Erik created. This road (really, it's a trail that connects all of our properties) currently ends between where the house will go and the barn. Now, it will go behind the barn and will be out of view, so we are excited to have this new addition to the property. ***If you haven't checked out our Sawmill Cover Build, definitely check out the playlist at the end of this video. We have shared the process of building this sawmill cover from the very beginning. We have a Woodland Mills HM130 Max sawmill and live in North Idaho. This sawmill cover / sawmill shed is vital to continue milling in the winter months, but it will also be a great way to keep out of the sun during the summer months, and of course all of the rain, in between! We are excited to complete this project, so we can continue milling lumber for our barn build. Here are the specs on the sawmill cover / sawmill shed we are building: 3 posts in the front 4 posts in the back Overall dimensions are 15 feet wide by 36 feet long Longest beam is 28 feet Front part of the lean to roof is 11'9" and back is 8' It will have a 3 :12 pitch Posts and beams are going to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" We will be sharing the entire build.
