Babasaheb Ambedkar statue desecrated from Velivada The Babasaheb Ambedkar statue presented through the hands of Manda Krishna Madiga, Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, P.Sainath and Prof.Haragopal towards the struggle seeking Justice for Rohith has been in Velivada since a few days after Rohith left us. On the 4th of July the statue was found missing from the Velivada. It has desecrated from the Velivada in the middle of the night. Mr.Podile Appa Rao, MLC Ramachandra Rao, Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya, Nandanam Diwakar, Alok Pandey, Members of 167th executive council and Krishna Chaitanya and Nandanam Susheel Kumar of ABVP are already an accused in one atrocity case namely crime No.20 of 2016 in the Gacchibowli Police Station. All the accused have chalked out a plan to remove everything from the site of protest, which they began from removing the tents and images of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, later whitewashed the images of Rohith Vemula, Slogans of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and presently removed the statue of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar present at Velivaada. Podile Apparao, after him being shown as accused in the said case he escaped from the university and kept secret of his whereabouts for more than two months. Again secretly assumed his office after 3 months with the connivance of other culprits. Then onwards he has been promoting ill-will, enmity and hatred among students and faculty and creating unrest in the campus. The police inaction and political interference has ensured that he is back in the campus as the Vice – Chancellor, in spite of the absence of confidence expressed by the official student mandate through the general body meeting of the student’s union. The faculty of the university and a section of the non teaching staff have all expressed their distrust in Podile Apparao. Yet because of political backing he remains in the campus. In this atmosphere, Podile Apparao has made sure that the campus community in general and the Dalit community in particular suffer his casteist humiliation every moment. Podile Apparao along with Bandaru Dattatreya, Smriti Irani, Nandanam Susheel Kumar, Nandanam Diwakar, Krishna Chaitanya, Alok Pandey and all members of 167th Executive Council who were accused in SC/ST PoA Act fears that, this velivada is is an evidence of his guilt. It is an evidence of Rohith’s institutional murder, an evidence that they want to destroy. The disappearance of Ambedkar’s statue is part of the same impending attack on the Velivada and Rohith’s stupa.
