Edit 25/10/19: at 11:15 onwards, Luke discusses the motherboard VRM and power delivery. He has clarified further whether this is an 8-phase or 16-phase solution: 'you only get 8 true control phases. Asus is, however, using 16 phases' worth of electrical components (when measured via conventional measuring techniques that the industry has used for many years). So you get power capacity equivalent to 16 phases. It's basically just a technicality on what people consider to be a 'phase'. Technically, a phase would be referring to the control phase from the PWM controller. However, they way that ASUS doubles up the electrical components per PWM phase, they're effectively giving double the power per phase (compared to a single-set predecessor). So it's technically 8 phases due to control but technically 16 phases (via all conventional methods the industry has used for phase counting for many, many years) due to electrical components. Calling it 8 phase due to the PWM limitations and no doublers is perfectly reasonable. But it's an 8 phase with current capacity comparable to a 16 phase. So while 8 is reasonable, it's selling the board short. And 16 is also reasonable, but masks over the control which is 'only' 8 phases. Both arguments are correct, in my eyes. It's 8 control signals from the PWM controller. It's 16-sets of PowIR stages and inductors. The capacity is comparable to 16 phases of current capability. The control dynamics are similar to 8 phases of PWM control capability.' Today Luke takes a look at the ASUS ROG X570-E Gaming Motherboard which ships with a monster 16 phases of power. It's priced around £300, and Luke also supports this video with a 5,500 word analysis over at www.kitguru.net HERE http://bit.ly/2BFcwOz AM4 socket: Ready for 2nd and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ processors to maximise connectivity and speed with up to two M.2 Drives, USB 3.2 Gen2 and AMD StoreMI Aura Sync RGB: ASUS-exclusive Aura Sync RGB lighting, including RGB headers and addressable Gen 2 GRB headers Optimal Power Solution: 12+4 power stages with ProCool II power connector, alloy chokes and durable capacitors to support multi-core processors Comprehensive cooling: Active chipset heatsink, MOS heatsink with 8mm heatpipe, dual on-board M.2 heatsinks and a water pump + header Gaming connectivity: Supports PCIe 4.0, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2 and features dual M.2 and USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-C connectors Gaming networking: 2.5Gbps LAN and Intel Gigabit Ethernet with ASUS LANGuard, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with MU-MIMO, and gateway teaming via GameFirst V 5-Way Optimisation: Automated system-wide tuning, providing overclocking and cooling profiles that are tailor made for your rig Gaming audio: High fidelity audio with SupremeFX S1220A, DTS® Sound Unbound and Sonic Studio III to draw you deeper into the action Easy DIY: ROG-patented pre-mounted I/O shield, ASUS SafeSlot, ASUS Node connector and BIOS Flashback™ for a friendlier building experience Check out KITGURU MERCH over here: https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/ki....
