Almost nothing is known about him. Born into a musical family, he studied in Venice before joining the Würzburg court chapel under Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim, a position he held for the rest of his life. As a composer, his extant output includes two symphonies, two concertos, various quartets and trios, as well as songs and keyboard sonatas. The family’s musical legacy was furthered by his sons, Joseph Küffner (1776-1856) and Johann Joseph Baptist Küffner (1770-1833), and his cousin Georg Joseph Küffner (1747-1779), who was also a violinist.
