Being uncomfortable during an MRI has nothing to do with an implant. If you have an implant in your body, there are two things to be taken into consideration when you are going in for an MRI. MRI is a strong magnetic field. The implant should not be having any ferromagnetic properties. Currently available orthopedic implants are non ferromagnetic implants. They are not magnetic and can be safely used. If there are impurities or implant is not of high quality alloy. Most of the MRIs in 1.5 tesla which is safe. In the sense, the implant should not move inside, it should not cause heat inside. If there are any doubts, it is better to avoid a 3 tesla MRI. Coming to external implants, you cannot do any MRI with external implants because it comes in the way of the study. There will be lot of artifacts.
