This ancient fortress, situated on a hill overlooking the Main River, is one of the oldest fortifications in Germany. • In 1402, the University of Würzburg was established, making it one of the oldest universities in Germany. 👉Renaissance and Baroque Era • During the 17th and 18th centuries, Würzburg became an important center of Baroque architecture and culture. • Between 1720 and 1744, the Würzburg Residence was built. Today, it is considered a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of its most magnificent features is the Mirror Cabinet, an opulently decorated hall showcasing extravagant Baroque design. • The city during this period was heavily influenced by prince-bishops such as Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn and Friedrich Karl von Schönborn, who promoted art and architecture. 👉World War II and Reconstruction • On March 16, 1945, Würzburg was almost 90% destroyed in a massive air raid by the British Royal Air Force. • Many of the city’s historic buildings, including the Würzburg Residence and Marienberg Fortress, were meticulously rebuilt in the following decades. 👉Modern Era • Today, Würzburg is a major cultural, academic, and tourist center. • The city is particularly famous for producing high-quality wines, especially the Silvaner white wine. 06:55 Mirror Cabinet 16:15 Würzburg Cathedral 17:11 Alte Mainbruecke 19:49 Marienkapelle 22:50 Festung Marienberg #WürzburgGermany #Wurzburg #WurzburgTravel #BavariaTourism #GermanyVlog #RomanticRoad #WurzburgResidence #MarienbergFortress #ScenicGermany #TravelEurope #BeautifulGermany #MyTravelDiary #CityViews #travelshorts
