Izu Kyuko Line (Izukyu) is a 45km line that runs along the east coast of the Izu Peninsula, located on the east side of Shizuoka Prefecture. In this video, I take a train from Izukyu Shimoda Station, the southern end of the line, and head north to Izu Inatori Station. This train, which was introduced in 1985, has a terraced observation deck at the front, and even in the cars connected in the middle of the train, the seats on the ocean side are sofa-type seats facing the ocean, a novel idea. One of the two "Resort 21" trains currently in operation is nicknamed "Kinme Train" and features golden-eyed snapper, a local specialty, on the inside and outside of the car.
