Sermon On “Does God Speak To Unbelievers?” By Sister Anne On 21st December, 2025 (Part 2)

Lets continue with the implications of “Does God Know our thoughts”: Introduction Brethren, one of the most misunderstood truths in Scripture is this: God is not limited to speaking only to believers. From Genesis to Revelation, we see a God who speaks, directs, convicts, warns, corrects, and even saves—including those who don’t yet know Him. Why does God do this? Because His love reaches further than our sin, His mercy reaches further than our rebellion, and His purpose reaches further than our understanding. Today, let us explore two powerful biblical examples—Saul and Rahab—and see how God SOVEREIGNLY speaks to, uses, and transforms unbelievers for His divine agenda. 1. Saul: When God Speaks to the Enemy of the Gospel The first example is Saul, later known as the Apostle Paul. He was not just an unbeliever; he was an active enemy of Christ. a. Saul the Persecutor He was a strict Pharisee, convinced that Christianity was dangerous. Acts 9 says he was “breathing threats and murder against the disciples.” He approved of Stephen’s stoning. He scattered the early church through violent persecution. He even secured permission to arrest Christians in Damascus. Saul was not seeking God—GOD SOUGHT HIM. b. The Divine Encounter On the Damascus road, a bright light from heaven struck him down. And Jesus spoke: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” This question shook Saul’s soul. Jesus spoke to an unbeliever who hated Him— because Jesus does not speak only to the willing; HE SPEAKS TO THE LOST. This encounter: Convicted Saul Confronted his sin Called him into grace c. Transformation The persecutor became a preacher. The hunter of Christians became the builder of churches. The destroyer of faith became the defender of faith. Why? BECAUSE GOD SPEAKS EVEN TO UNBELIEVERS TO DRAW THEM INTO HIS PURPOSE. 2. Rahab: When God Speaks Through a Life the World Has Written Off Our second example is Rahab—a Canaanite prostitute, a pagan by culture, an outsider by birth. BUT GOD DOES NOT SEE AS MAN SEES. a. Rahab’s Courageous Actions She hid the spies sent by Joshua. She risked her life by lying to the king’s men. She made a pact with the spies for her family’s salvation. She tied a scarlet cord—a symbol of faith and redemption. NOW DO BELIEVE THAT SALVATION IS MERELY BY GRACE? What made this unbelieving woman so bold? b. Rahab Heard and Believed She confessed: “We have heard how the Lord parted the Red Sea… Your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.” She was an unbeliever by upbringing— but GOD WAS ALREADY SPEAKING TO HER HEART THROUGH WHAT SHE HAD HEARD. c. Her Reward and Legacy Her whole family was saved during the fall of Jericho. She married Salmon. She became the mother of Boaz. She became part of the lineage of King David. She became an ancestor of Jesus Christ. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE AN ISRAELITE TO BE BORN AGAIN!!!! She was praised in Hebrews 11 as a hero of faith. James called her an example of faith demonstrated by works. RAHAB MAY HAVE BEEN AN UNBELIEVER WHEN THE STORY BEGAN— BUT GOD WAS SPEAKING TO HER LONG BEFORE ISRAEL ARRIVED AT HER DOOR!!! 3. How God Uses Unbelievers Scripture gives us several ways God interacts with the hearts of unbelievers: a. Prophecy and Revelation 1 Corinthians 14:24 reminds us that even an unbeliever can be convicted by prophecy and fall down to worship God. God can speak through them or to them. b. Fulfilling His Will God used Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, and others to accomplish His purposes—even when they did not know Him. GOD IS SOVEREIGN. He can use a saint, a sinner, or a stranger. c. Chastening or Judgement Sometimes God uses unbelievers as instruments to correct or discipline His own people when they drift into rebellion. d. Demonstrating Sovereignty God uses whomever He wills to prove that His plans cannot be blocked by human weakness, unbelief, or resistance. GOD DOES NOT NEED YOUR FAITH TO START HIS PLAN— BUT HE CALLS YOU TO FAITH TO FINISH HIS PLAN. Conclusion: God’s Message to Every Unbeliever Beloved, the death of Jesus Christ was not only for church members. It was for: the weak, the weary, the broken, the confused, the sinful, the unbelieving. Jesus declared: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 “The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” — Luke 19:10 “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” God speaks to unbelievers because He loves them too. He calls them because He wants them saved. HE CONVICTS THEM BECAUSE HE WANTS THEM TRANSFORMED. If He spoke to Saul the persecutor… If He moved the heart of Rahab the prostitute… THEN HE CAN SPEAK TO ANYONE, ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME. MAY WE NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE REACH OF GOD’S VOICE.
