This performance of “This Good Island,” was shared with audiences May 2025 at Hoxton Hall, in East London, UK. The shortened production, made possible through the support of HighRise theatre, draws from the full length play by Emily Rodríguez. Spanning the 1920s-50s, “This Good Island” depicts the events of Puerto Rico’s independence movement and its ultimate suppression by the United States. The two prominent figures of the time spar, narrating the causes of Puerto Rico’s current colonial status, which they believe to be in opposition.
