The war on Iran has sparked small but significant protests in Bahrain. In recent weeks, protesters have chanted “Down with the King”, “May God curse you Hamad” and “We will never be humiliated”. They are critical of the presence of the US navy on the Gulf island, as well as the normalisation of relations with Israel. They also say that Shia communities are being discriminated against in the country. Maryam al-Khawaja, a prominent Bahraini activist, joined us on Middle East Eye to discuss the recent unrest.
