In 1962, Thomas Kuhn published The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, a work that changed how we understand scientific progress. Kuhn argued that science does not advance simply through constant testing and rational debate. Instead, research operates within paradigms — shared frameworks of assumptions, methods, and standards that guide scientific work. Most scientists practice what Kuhn called normal science: solving puzzles within an accepted framework. But over time, anomalies accumulate, tensions grow, and scientific revolutions occur. These revolutions do more than replace theories. They transform how scientists understand problems, evidence, and even reality itself. This raises a deeper question explored by Karl Popper: If paradigms resist change, how can science still move closer to truth? Because science is not only a logical system. It is also a human institution — one that must balance stability with the ability to correct itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This video is part of a broader series exploring power, institutions, and knowledge through thinkers such as Vilfredo Pareto, James Burnham, and Karl Popper.
