As soon as we made our "first look" video introducing Springfield Armory's Hellcat Pro pistol, we knew what everybody is going to ask: How does it compare to the original Hellcat? Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant does just that, starting with what really matters - SIZE. The Pro's grip frame is notably longer than the micro-compact Hellcat's, and folks with largish hands will probably prefer the extra-solid purchase they can get on the Pro. The Hellcat Pro's longer grip frame houses a 15-ROUND flush-fitting magazine, while the standard Hellcat offers a 13-round mag that extends below the grip. Are the magazines interchangeable? Caleb has the answer. The width of the two pistols is the same, a mere 1". The Pro's frame/slide/barrel are about ½" longer than the standard Hellcat's. That gives you more real estate on the accessory rail for mounting a light or laser. ALL Hellcat Pro models will come with a slide cut for mounting a red dot sight that fits the Shield RMSc footprint. The red dot slot is offered on some, though not all, standard Hellcats. Pro and Original Hellcat both come with the same front and rear "iron sights". And what about a manual thumb safety? Caleb has the skinny on that, too.
