This new SID with some pretty neat features rounds out the non-invasive BTTF tribute props in the rear shelf of our DeLorean VIN 16109. This one is available from Timecircuit "BTTF Time Circuits" on Facebook.   / bttftimecircuits   **Review!** Pros: -Very programmable! You can have it do all sorts of stuff, from vertical and horizontal scrolling marquee with whatever you want it to say to playing a game of Tetris. -Has an audio input to use as a spectrum analyzer -Connects to Timecircuit's other props for some BTTF temporal displacement simulation special effects! You can connect it to his speedo with GPS to simulate an 88 MPH time travel event. I have yet to do this but it sounds awesome! -Runs off 12V DC in the car (but highly recommend you use a step-down converter -- we used a 12V to 9V converter to step down the voltage - you can burn out the Arduino board if you connect it directly to the car battery!) https://amazon.com/gp/product/B00R5MN... -Source code for the Arduino Nano board is readily available and free upgrades from Timecircuit. -Timecircuit's customer support and responsiveness is great! He always got back to us with our questions quickly. -Was able to be shipped no problem during this Covid-19 quarantine. Got it from France to US in 2 weeks. Wow! Cons: -Does not save the last mode you were in. Once it powers off, it restarts in "real" mode...it would be great if it would start up in the last mode you set it at. [I voiced this to Timecircuit who is going to add it to a future upgrade] -The green LEDs are much dimmer than the amber/yellow and red LEDs. It would be nice to have them all evenly bright. The red and amber/yellow LEDs are very bright, but the green LEDs leave something to be desired, even at max brightness. The green LEDs are difficult if not impossible to see during daylight, especially with the doors open. This could be a deal-breaker for those who like the really bright stuff (Danny Botkin has the brightest SID we've ever seen!). If the green LEDs were as bright as the red and amber/yellow LEDs, this would be a perfect SID! -The luminosity (aka brightness) adjustment only seems to work in vertical & horizontal scrolling and tetris modes, not in demo/real or spectrum modes. Again, Timecircuit said he was going to look into a fix for this. -The remote isn't 100% reliable in the car, and seems more responsive with the SID outside the car....maybe interference? I found myself pressing the buttons more than once to change modes. Moving the antenna around seemed to help. Kinda finicky... Do we recommend it? Despite the brightness issues with the green LEDs, this is a solid SID and fun to operate. Makes a great compliment to our flux capacitor in VIN 16109 and looks great at night, but during the day it's hard to see the green LEDs.
