"From orphaned refugee to community leader, Tibetan Children's Village turns dreams into legacies.” Tibetans in Diaspora EP 111 / FT: Tsultrim Dorjee | Interview 203 Stories of Tibetans "I am the first person in my family to receive a proper education. Coming from a semi-nomadic background, education was something we never even dreamed of. However, due to the illegal Chinese invasion, many things have changed in Tibet. Like many others, I fled Tibet. Being the eldest child, my family decided to send me to India so I could study our own identity and culture, to become more Tibetan. That’s why I came to India, leaving my family behind. Tibetan Children's Village (TCV) has been everything to me. This school shaped me into who I am today. When I arrived, I had nothing, but TCV took me in, just as they did for many others who had come from Tibet. We were provided with clothes, food, shelter, education, and resources we could never have imagined. This school became my home away from home. Currently, I am working as a director at the same school that nurtured me. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher because the teachers I had were immensely inspiring. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to caring for orphans like me left a deep impression. For me, giving back to my community, especially to this school, is something that truly matters. I’ve now been serving this school for 30 years. Over 50,000 students have graduated from TCV. It’s remarkable. Today, many of these students are serving our community, whether in the Central Tibetan Administration or in the private sector. You’ll definitely come across ex-TCV students in various walks of life. That’s the gift this school has given to our community, and it plays a vital role in our collective future.” Intewrview By Kunsang Tenzing Special thanks to Gen Tsultrim Dorjee Upper TCV School Ugen Dolma . . . . . . . . . . . . . .#TCV #Tibetan #Refugee #Tibetanrefugee #TCVSchool #UpperTCV #Children #Tibetanrefugee #DalaiLama #TibetanExile #ExileStories #RefugeeStories #McLoedGanj #Interview Youtube #Trend #Documentary
