It seems I have to say this: This is specific to Dunlop's polyurethane boots, i.e. the Purofort line. It does not apply to Acifort and any other boots. The boots in the video are from 2003, 2006, 2008. I don't know if they have changed the mixture meanwhile. I have not encountered the problem with PU boots e.g. by Cofra. Some boot friends and I have realized that Dunlop Puroforts over 10 years age have simply died by aging. I have made this video for you. The green pair had been used, but not heavily, as well as the Thermo+ where the sole broke while I was in a supermarket. The yellow pairs have never been worn. From a certain time point on the polyurethane material seems to degrade quickly, and the boots kind of melt and break and fold down under their own weight, like a soft cheese. My boots have always been in a box in a cupboard, at room temperature and not exposed to any light, unless being worn. Thus always check the production date under the sole when you buy Puroforts. Be assured that I have a good reserve of newer pairs of Puroforts, e.g. a new pair of orange/blue Thermo+. Couldn't do without!
