While the APAC secondary market has lagged behind its US and European counterparts, it is now rapidly catching up. In this episode of the Women of Secondaries podcast, Agnes Tang, Managing Partner at AB Value Capital Partners, says that the turmoil in the past two years due to COVID-19 and geopolitical issues has accelerated the adoption of secondaries as a portfolio management tool in the region. The APAC region is seeing increased activity from countries like Japan, South Korea, India, and Australia, with Japan and India showing particularly strong growth in secondary transactions. In Tang’s view, APAC secondary transactions are expected to see a higher compound annual growth rate (CAGR) than the US and Europe in the coming years. Tang also shares the differences in the secondary market processes followed in Asia, as compared to the US and Europe markets, as well as her view on pricing and estimates for secondary market volume growth in the APAC region in 2024.
