These days, forms are diversifying. Some prioritize ornamentation and presentational techniques, becoming detached from the fundamentals of everyday life, which obscures their purpose and essence. What forms will enrich our daily lives in the future? What lies behind them? Form means to shape something or the essence of things. Arata Maruyama, the founder of our design studio &Form, and our associates began this series of projects to explore the essence of design and creativity. Following FormSWISS, our second installment, FormJAPAN, gathers perspectives from creators excelling in various fields such as visual communication design, contemporary art, and film. Japan, where &Form was founded, possesses beauty and collective values that differ from those of the West.
