Chapar School Is Community’s Pride and Joy

The residents of Chapar, in Artsakh’s Martakert Region, are fiercely vigilant about keeping their village sparkling-clean. When asked about their extraordinary dedication to cleanliness, they say that since the benefactors of the community have so lovingly built things here, it’s the duty of every resident to take good care of them. Among the major projects implemented in Chapar is the construction of a state-of-the-art school. It replaced the former, 80-year-old campus, which was in a state of severe disrepair, with crumbling walls and rain-damaged and dingy classrooms. The new school was built by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund in 2014, with the financial support of industrialist Varujan Grigoryan, a former Chapar resident and a graduate of the old school. Today, Chapar’s new school provides students with a wonderful educational environment, complete with fully equipped classrooms and labs, as well as sports grounds. Chapar’s renewed vitality in the past few years has enticed a number of large families to move to the village.
