VAC: Installation and Initialisation of Virtual Audio Cable with PowerSDR Digi-Modes
Use of PowerSDR with digi-modes requires a means to interface the AFSK between the program and the hardware. Traditionally this is done with a hardware interface. In SDR this is no longer necessary and the AFSK can remain in the digital domain right up to the radio. To accomplish this requires the use of a third party "virtual sound card". VAC or Virtual Audio Cable by Eugene Muzychenko is the most popular choice as it is stable and a firm favourite with SDR users. The application is not free but rather shareware but it is not expensive. This video explores the installation and setting up of VAC and the relevent settings in PowerSDR and an example of how to set it up with the popular WSJT-X by Joe Taylor (JT65 and JT9).
