An open source project never sleeps: Two decades of MDN

I’ve grown within an open-source community, and one thing I’ve learned for sure is that managing a popular open-source project is incredibly challenging. Since stepping into my previous role and now at MDN, I’ve gained valuable insights into managing expectations—understanding who you are as an open-source project and how to foster growth both within and beyond it. Running and growing an open-source project comes with many challenges, and MDN has successfully navigated them for nearly two decades. But what’s next? In this brief session, I’ll provide a status report on what MDN has achieved so far and where we’re headed. With almost 143,000 contributors from diverse backgrounds over our lifetime, we’ve built a community rooted in open principles that guide many aspects of our work.
