Relics of the ancient Etruscan city of Veii can be found in the outskirts of Rome, Italy, in the nature reserve known as "Parco di Veio" which encompasses 9 municipalities including the Northern-Western end of Rome. The Roman side of the nature park features ancient Etruscan tombs, waterfalls and a medieval village and, therefore, this part of the city is without a doubt the ultimate "off-the-beaten-track" side of the Eternal City. In this video you can see the medieval village of Isola Farnese and its castle, situated just some 500 meters away from one of the most densely populated suburbs of Rome, some of the many waterfalls that can be found in the reserve and one of the gateways to the ancient city of Veii known as Porta Capena which is rather hard to find because there is no official trail to get there and the Etruscan road (which was later paved by the Romans) is hidden in the woods.
