Onkyo: I will keep sending your TX-NR626 units back until I get satisfaction. The backstory: I've had 2 defective units in a row and talked with the folks at Onkyo tech support for both of them. I'll try to be objective instead of dwelling on the time I've wasted choosing this unit / setting it up / noting the problems / talking to Onkyo. This unit replaces a Yamaha RX-V567 that worked perfectly, so it's not the other components causing these problems. 1st unit would not select a source. Instead it would output a second of digital snow/static and alternate with five seconds of black, but would play the audio. A few times it would show the source, but randomly. The Onkyo tech tried setting the hdmi resolution to 'through', picture mode to 'bypass' & resetting the unit, making sure the primary hdmi out is being used - all of which had no effect. I tried two other hdmi cables and the other hdmi inputs on my tv, no dice. If I plugged the source component directly into the tv (Mac Mini or BluRay) it works fine. 2nd unit would occasionally do the same digital static & blanking for ~ 30 secs then lock on the source. BUT it would not output a video signal if the tv was turned off then back on. Also wouldn't output video if the tv was turned on after the receiver. Onkyo did the same troubleshooting steps for this too. Both units had their firmware upgraded upon unboxing. Oddly, if I physically unplug the hdmi output cable and plug it back in I get video, not an acceptable workaround. What I suspect is there's a digital handshaking failure happening between my Toshiba 40rv525u television and the Onkyo TX-NR626. As the tv works happily with every other source I'm not blaming the tv. Hopefully this will dissuade people from buying this receiver, and unless I get one that works, I'm leaving this review at one star.
