Rangitoto Island | New Zealand

Welcome back to our Sixth series! For Episode 40 we are taking you to Rangitoto Island on the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland, New Zealand. We started the day by catching the ferry from Victoria Warf in Devonport across the harbour to Rangitoto Island. Once we arrived at Rangitoto Island we headed West to McKenzie Bay to check out the lighthouse and the beautiful beach. This took roughly an hour to walk from the wharf to the bay. From McKenzie bay we ventured up the volcano to the crater and summit lookouts. The views from up here were incredible and well worth the hour hike up a volcano for. After the lookouts we wondered down to the lava caves which were very narrow but incredibly fun to experience. The final stop on our 16km hike was Islington Bay, ther perfect stop off to rest our acheing joints. Taking in the beautiful tranquil waters before heading back to the ferry.
