Jennifer Lutes, University of Missouri (MU) Extension. Description: This presentation will focus on reproduction as a business decision in small ruminant operations. The talk will explore the economic impact of single versus twin births and how reproductive efficiency influences overall farm profitability. It will also address the role of Artificial Insemination (AI), including when its use may be economically justified. In addition, the session will cover the best seasons of the year for breeding and for kidding/lambing to align production with market demand and maximize prices. Producers will gain practical insights into how reproductive management decisions directly affect financial outcomes.
