Contrary to popular misconception, this language is not a heavy Irish accent of English but instead a completely different language that’s about as similar to English as Japanese is and equally hard to learn. Though these days it’s rare even in Ireland (the last time I tried speaking Irish here I was literally laughed out of the country), if you take a 4-hour bus ride from Dublin you will find a remote corner in the extreme northwest, County Donegal, where Irish is still widely spoken, and so I came here to see if I could go toe to toe with the locals in their native tongue. 0:00 Introduction 1:35 Arriving in Donegal 2:06 Irish women hit on me 4:29 There is no English here 5:43 Visiting the “pure Irish” village 9:41 Getting into rowdy football fights 10:53 Ordering porridge at a restaurant in Irish 11:55 Speaking Ukrainian on the streets of Ireland 13:08 Irish people are too funny 15:19 This Irish whiskey distillery speaks Gaelic 17:29 Ordering dinner in Irish 18:34 Guinness is free when I order in Irish at 150-year-old Irish bar LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE WITH MY METHOD! ✉️ Join my newsletter and discover how I pick up new languages quickly (and learn how you can do the same): 👉🏼 https://www.streetsmartlanguages.com/... 📚 Check out my Street-Smart Language courses: 👉🏼 https://www.streetsmartlanguages.com Subscribe to my channel: / @xiaomanyc Follow me on Instagram: / xiaomanyc Follow me on Facebook: / xiaomanyc If you guys like the music in my videos, you can check out all the AMAZING music Epidemic Sound has at my affiliate link here: http://share.epidemicsound.com/xiaomanyc
