Started off 2026 on Lake Murray. It was cold, and we didn’t get a ton of bites, but the quality was there! My first fish of the year was a 6.5 lb+ giant! Hard to beat that in terms of getting off on the right foot. We relied heavily on a jig, specifically the Five Bass Tackle Finesse Football jig. I picked up the hot potato color since I figured the bass would like a warm meal on a cold day. Paired that with an ALX IKOS Hammer and some big line and brought that jig through some thick stuff.
