Midday Movers: MidCap & SmallCap indices were outperforming the benchmark indices

Benchmark indices fluctuated between gains and losses on Tuesday's afternoon. The Supreme Court said that interest waiver cannot be granted and that no direction can be issued to either the government or Reserve Bank of India for sector-wise relief. Post the SC verdict, the Nifty PSU Bank index surged 2 per cent and was the top sectoral gainer.The broader markets, the MidCap and SmallCap indices were outperforming the benchmark indices. Looking at Individual stocks Adani Ports climbed 2.6% after the company agrees to buy more than 58% stake in Gangavaram Port in Andhra Pradesh for Rs 3604 crore. Edelweiss Financial services gains 3% in trade after PAG invests about around Rs 2400 cr in Edelweiss Wealth Management.
