Finally finished. I decided to build the bike as a tribute to the legendary 900 SS. Bike had been parked up in Japan for over 20 years, tank and body work was in fairly good condition. Engine and frame very dusty, dirty and much surface corrosion. Starter motor was not working, replaced it with one from a Yamaha T-Max 500 cc scooter, this did fit but was a clockwise rotation(MHR starter counter clockwise rotation) my sparky friend reversed it's rotation, rewired the alternator, repaired the neutral switch pickup and replaced the faulty Lucus starter switch with a new one. The insulation on the wiring from the Bosch ignition had completely disintegrated just crumbled away, so I cleaned it up(copper wire inside was all intact) resleeved it with new heat and chemical resistant heat shrink tubing. Engine vapor blasted clean then polished, frame and wheels blasted and repainted. Fork sliders, triple clamps and instrument mount repainted. Seat, fairing, screen and tail light unit from Stein Dinse in Germany. Alloy Imola tank from ebay, it did not fit properly and needed extensive rework then painted. Kept the original MHR side covers, I did have replica SS ones, but the fit and look was not right. Rear guard is a fiberglass replica sourced in New Zealand. Painted and kept the original front guard. (It was black) I have kept all of the MHR parts, tank, seat, upper and lower fairing. So if one day I decide to sell the bike the new owner will have the option of rebuilding it back to original. Bike has been vinned, registration, complied and a new WoF (warrant of fitness, like the English MoT) Goes really well and real head turner. Bike is in Tauranga New Zealand.
