Calving season is right around the corner on the ranch. Today I’m sorting off the bred heifers and moving them into the corral so we’re ready when the first calves start arriving. Their due date is March 17th, which means things are about to get busy. While we’re working cattle, I’m also sorting off the replacement heifer calves. They’re headed to town on Monday to get their Bangs vaccinations, which is an important step in preparing them to become future cows in the herd. Days like this are all about preparation—getting the right cattle in the right place before calving season kicks off.
