Nearly Missed | Let the Children Come | A Message for Families This week’s “Let the Children Come” moment may look simple — but it became the turning point of our entire worship service. Using the beloved Sesame Street song “Nearly Missed,” we talked about what happens when we spend so much time looking down that we nearly miss a rainbow, a sunset, or even a shooting star. With a powerful image of a rainbow over 106th Street in Harlem, we asked children — and the adults listening behind them — what we might be missing because we are focused on the cracks in the sidewalk. Looking down helps us know where we’re going. But we can’t dream that way. This is a gentle, meaningful message for children ages 6–16 — and for the adults who love them. It reminds families that faith sometimes begins with something as simple as lifting your head. Parents, we invite you to watch this together with your children and ask afterward: “What are we nearly missing in our own lives?” Sometimes the deepest theology arrives through youth.
