Shifting Dust is a few Proverbs to live by in order to live a skillful and righteous life. This is from the Book of Proverbs [Verse 1] My father told me, “Son, listen close, There’s a path for the wise and a path for the ghosts. One shines bright like a lamp in the night, The other winds crooked and hides from the light.” He said, “Guard your heart like a treasure chest, For out of it flows every path and rest.” [Chorus] Two roads through the dust, two voices call— One says ‘Stand,’ the other says ‘Fall.’ Wisdom whispers soft like a mother’s breath, Folly shouts loud with the scent of death. Choose your steps, son, the world’s unjust… There’s a grave for the proud in the shifting dust. [Verse 2] I met a stranger dressed in crimson red, Smile like honey, eyes like thread. She said, “Come with me where the night stays warm,” But her doorway led to a silent storm. My father warned me, “Don’t follow her feet— Her path is smooth but her house is grief.” [Chorus] Two roads through the dust, two voices call— One says ‘Stand,’ the other says ‘Fall.’ Wisdom whispers soft like a mother’s breath, Folly shouts loud with the scent of death. Choose your steps, son, the world’s unjust… There’s a grave for the proud in the shifting dust. [Bridge] Better a little with peace in hand Than riches won on a violent man. Pride builds towers that tumble fast, But the humble find shelter the storm can’t smash. Iron sharpens iron, so walk with the few Who cut you clean and sharpen you true. [Verse 3] Now I’m older, and I tell my own, “There’s wolves in the field where the seeds are sown. Trust in the Lord, let your heart incline— Walk straight, walk steady, stay close to the line.” For the wicked stumble though they claim they see, But the righteous rise where they’re meant to be. [Final Chorus] Two roads through the dust, two voices call— One speaks life, the other wants all. Wisdom’s a crown no thief can steal, Folly’s a wound that never heals. Choose your steps, son—choose them just… Your whole life hangs in the shifting dust.
